Columbia context
This is a trade where the local climate decides the outcome almost by itself. Nearly everything in Columbia is built on a slab, and a slab on grade in a humid subtropical climate drives water vapor upward continuously -- so a coating applied over a slab that has not been moisture-tested is the single most common way this work fails, lifting or blistering months later with nothing visibly wrong. Sandy transition soils near the fall line can keep moisture moving under a slab in ways clay would not, and older slabs in in-town houses frequently went down without a vapor retarder at all, because that was not standard practice when they were poured. Humid heat also narrows the window in which a coating will cure properly, which is why temperature and dew point at the time of application matter as much as the product on the label.
