A steam-era water stop named for two officials
Irmo began as a February 1890 water stop on the Columbia, Newberry and Laurens Railroad, took its name from officials C.J. Iredell and H.C. Moseley, incorporated December 24, 1890, and grew substantially after the Dreher Shoals Dam created Lake Murray between 1927 and 1930.
Garage slabs near Lake Murray
Irmo's closeness to Lake Murray means garage and patio slabs here can carry more ambient moisture than towns farther from the water, which affects how long a slab needs to cure and dry before an epoxy or coating system will properly bond.

What helps an Irmo flooring estimate
Share the slab's age, condition, proximity to the lake, and any moisture history. Confirm provider licensing before scheduling.
Ask about moisture-vapor testing near the lake
Given Irmo's lake-adjacent setting, ask directly whether a moisture-vapor test is warranted before committing to a coating system.
